If a child can hold a pencil.
Write their own name.
Count to a hundred
Recognise all the colours and shapes
Sit up straight on the mat
Use their 'walking feet' inside and their 'inside' voice
BUT
Doesn't know how to play.
Build friendships.
Manage their emotions.
Resolve conflict.
Stand up for themselves and for others...
Then none of the other stuff matters. Not even a little bit. We have failed them.
